Brother Akib Shaikh is 16 years old, with an existing condition of polio. He has recently been diagnosed with kidney failure and both his kidneys are shut down.Currently he is admitted in K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. He has to undergo dialysis 5 times a month, and the doctors are right now conducting tests to find a match for a possible Kidney Transplant in the future. The existing amount required is an upwards of 5,00,000/- INR.

Family Background:

Brother Mansoor is a tailor and makes around 10,000 - 12,000/- INR per month. They are a family of four. Recently, Akib was diagnosed with kidney failure after prolonged pain.The family is bringing him home tomorrow, but he has to be admitted for his kidney transplant on 19^th January, the surgery is scheduled for 25^th January.

Case 2:

Brother Salim Shaikh, has had a genetic blood disorder, Thalassemia Major, which prevents the body from making enough hemoglobin, which leads to sever anemia. The treatment involves various injections, medicines and some blood transfusions done regularly. The cost of the treatment is up to 75,000/- INR. per three months. He was recently diagnosed by Dr. Vijay Ramanan, of Yashoda Hematological Clinic, Pune.

The family has exhausted all savings, for the diagnosis and various treatments from the past 17 years.

Family Background:

Brothers Salman and Saddam are the two earning members of the family, they both earn around 40,000/- INR per month, by working at as a cushion maker and welder respectively. They applied to other institutes for help, but were rejected. Brother Salim was diagnosed 17 years ago and the family has been working to pay for his treatments and medicines since then. They have absolutely exhausted all resources, and are living on a survival basis, because of the treatments costs.
